Hanne Marie Muegge,of Indian Land, SC, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2020. Throughout her 93 years of life she always found time to be thoughtful, generous and giving to others. She was born October 31,1926 in Stotel , Germany to the late Bernard Kracke and Mathilde Kracke (nee Meyer).
Marie, as she preferred to be called, was a strong independent woman who lived a full and vibrant life. Marie immigrated to Queens, New York from Germany in the late 1950‘s. She became a U.S. citizen in 1960. She always had a way with children and worked as a caregiver/housekeeper until her marriage.
She met her husband Hans at a wedding and they married six months after meeting. They worked side by side, at several Long Island, NY delicatessens which he owned and operated where she contributed fabulous cooking and baking. Together, they enjoyed raising three children and always made time to relax taking yearly Caribbean cruises.
They retired to Naples, Florida in 1985 and remained there until 2009. There they met many dear friends and enjoyed swimming and walking the beaches. Marie learned MahJong there and forged forever friendships with her "Mahj "group.
In 2009, she moved to Sun City in Indian Land, South Carolina to be near her daughter and family. She joined a MahJong group and played Canasta up until last year. Marie had many wonderful years there and truly enjoyed life.
Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Hans Muegge since 1999, her brother Bernard Kracke and sister Helma Vossberger (nee Kracke).She is survived by her sister, Ute Schimkus of Westbury, NY; son Richard Muegge and wife, Cate Muegge (nee Curtis) ; daughter Karin Curtis (nee Muegge) and husband, Christopher Curtis ; daughter Barbara Lavrik (nee Muegge) and husband, Gregory Lavrik; eight grandchildren Anna Muegge; Sam Muegge and wife, Bekah(nee Bodjanac); Brent Curtis and wife, Kristyn Curtis (nee Blodgett); Jonathan Curtis ; Lauren Curtis; Tara Lavrik; Patrick Lavrik ; Melissa Lavrik and three great grandchildren Hunter Muegge, Chandler Muegge, and Nora Grace Curtis ,as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donations in Marie's memory may be made to her favorite charity St Judes Children's Research Hospital or the Wayne T Patrick Hospice House.
