Harold Eugene (Gene) Richardson

Harold Eugene (Gene) Richardson, age 87, was born January 24, 1938 and died January 29, 2025.

Born in Lancaster County, SC, Gene was a son of the late Harold E. Richardson and the late Iris Young Richardson.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Glenva Griffin Richardson; his four children, Amy Glenva Richardson, Walt Sanford Richardson, Chris Eugene Richardson (Cindy), April Richardson Beachum (Rob); his two grandchildren, Katie Beachum, Jack Beachum; his step-grandson Shaun Hollingsworth (Rian); brother, Jimmy Richardson; sister, Floy Ervin (deceased), Norma Johnson, Merrilyn Long.

In 1955, Gene graduated from Indian Land High School where he played football and basketball. He then graduated from Clemson University in 1959 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Being raised on a farm, Gene was a hard worker from an early age. During Gene's career, he was employed by the following companies; Celanese Fibers (Rock Hill), Georgia Pacific (Crossett, AK), Charles T Main and Catalytic (Charlotte), Daniel Construction (Greenville) and R.J Reynolds Tobacco (Winston-Salem). In 1999, he retired from RJR after 20 years with the company.

Gene loved his family dearly, His grandchildren, Katie and Jack always brought a smile to his face and joy to his heart.

For many years he was an avid jogger and golfer. He loved spending time with his family at the beach. Another enjoyment was watching the Clemson Tigers play football. Gene was a lifelong member of the Osceola United Methodist Church.
