Harold Von Rogers, age 74, of Tega Cay, SC passed away at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 16, 2022. He was born November 25, 1947 in Mullins, SC to his loving parents, the late Harold and Viola Rogers. He was a 1966 graduate of Marion High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a medic. He was humbled and honored to be awarded The Quilt of Valor for his service last year. After the Army, he was a 1975 graduate of Francis Marion University, where he met his wife Lynn Thomas. It all began with “Lynn, do you want to dance?” … and dance they did for an incredible 46 years of marriage. He was the love of her life, and she was his “DooBug”. This union was blessed with two sons that he loved with all of his heart, Hal and Clif and they loved their father dearly. His over 40-year career with ServiceMaster/Aramark moved the family to NC, TX, LA, IA and eventually back home to SC. Harold was beloved by so many because of his outgoing nature and he never met a stranger. That led him to form many lifelong friendships in every state he lived. He was a man of deep faith and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He would make a daily list of all the names of friends that needed prayers and would say their names out loud. He enjoyed a good game of golf, daily walks around the neighborhood, and talking with friends and neighbors. He loved his daughters-in–law that made our family complete. Harold reveled in his role of “Papa” and had a deep love and adoration for his all his grandchildren. They loved their Papa so much they believed that he hung the moon. He was fun, kind, and dependable—he was the family rock. He was the first one we called to share happy news and the first one we called if we needed advice or help with anything. Being one of nine children, Harold always has a strong sense of family. He loved his brothers and sisters and was delighted to move back to his home state of South Carolina in 2002 to be near his family. He had a grateful heart.
Harold is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; two sons, Hal Rogers and wife, Mollie, and Clif Rogers and wife, Gandy; four grandchildren, Mac, Avery, Tucker and Sammie Rogers. He is also survived by his four brothers and two sisters; Cecil Rogers (Joan) of Marion, SC; Gene Rogers (Betty) of Charleston, SC; Ginger Munnerlyn (Jody)of Camden, SC; Margaret Shelley (Johnny) of Nichols, SC; Johnny Rogers (Debbie) of Spartanburg, SC and Jack Rogers (Jeanette) of Marion, SC, brother-in law Martin Thomas of Florence, SC and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his brothers Jimmie Rouse (Sandra) of Mullins, SC and Jerry Rogers (Jackie) of Marion, SC., brother-in-law, Wayne Thomas (Carol) of Irmo, SC, and mother-in law Clara Tucker (L.H.) Mullins, SC.
