Harriet was born and grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania.  Upon graduating from Westminster College, she began working at Marine Nation Bank as Director of Training.  She then met her husband to be, David Dokken, and was married October 19, 1968.

Upon marriage, they moved to Buffalo New York where she obtained a Masters Degree in Education from the University at Buffalo and became a Business Teacher at Lancaster Central High School.  Harriet and David raised both their children, Sarah and Eric here in Buffalo.  While living here, Harriet was an active member at Christ United Methodist Church in Snyder, New York as a member of the church choir as well as being involved with the Amherst Swim Club.

In 1997 after 30 years of teaching, Harriet and David retired to Destin, Florida and spent 19 great years here.  Harriet was active in Bridge club, the Destin United Methodist Church, community outreach, and volunteering.  She was Social Chairman of the Regatta Bay Golf Club and volunteered at the Sacred Heart Hospital in the gift shop for many years.

In 2020, Harriet and David moved to the Wellmore Assisted Living Facility in Tega Cay, South Carolina.  This was a blessing for both to receive additional medical care and be closer to family.

Harriet loved to cook and host dinner parties with friends and family.  She was very musical and as stated above, always an active participant in her church choir and also loved to play Bridge.  She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Buffalo Bills where she and David were season ticket holders for 30 years.  She also loved Clemson Football.

Harriet was the daughter of the late Raymond and Charlotte Allen, and survived by her loving husband David Dokken, daughter Sarah (Greg) Leifer of Delray Beach Florida, son Eric (Christine) Dokken of Charlotte, North Carolina, grandchildren Ryan Noah and Hailey Rose, Sister of Ann (Patrick) Kirk of Hudson, Ohio and nieces and nephews.
