Helen Elizabeth Jasper

Helen E Jasper of Tega Cay, SC, passed away peacefully at the wonderful age of 101, at Elmcroft Nursing Facility in Charlotte.
Helen was born in Calumet, Michigan. She married her loving husband, James L. Jasper in 1934 who passed away in 1998. They had five children: Elizabeth Reese (Paul) who reside in Massillon, Ohio, James P Jasper (Mary) who reside in Mesa, Arizona, H. Roslyn Harris (Tom) of Tega Cay, SC, John Jasper (Eileen) who reside in Alvin, Texas, and Sandra Moore (John) who both passed away in Ohio.
Helen's parents emigrated from Hungary just prior to WWI and had to leave a daughter behind as she had pink eye and could not board the ship. Helen has never met her sister. Helen leaves a legacy of love to 13 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 24 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Helen was active in the Eastern Star in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and in her church and also served as a Girl Scout Leader. She went back to school in the 60's to earn her GED and had her first job in 1972 as a service representative for Sears in Wheeling, W.Va.
Helen was loved by all who knew her. She had a warm smile, a gentle spirit and a feisty attitude. She taught all her children the true meaning of love and set an example of what marriage should be as she was married for 63 years.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Elmcroft for their excellent care and compassion for two and half years, and to Hospice nurses, CNA's and doctor for their understanding of Helen's needs as well as the family as they stayed in constant touch through two years of palliative care.
A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 737 E Woodlawn Road, Charlotte, on Friday, September 7th, at 4:00 pm. With the Reverend Tim Webster presiding. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall and refreshments will be provided. Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 7600 Little Ave., Charlotte NC 28266
