Helen M Sharkey

Helen M. Sharkey of Punta Gorda Florida passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from the result of a ruptured aneurism. Helen was born in Ozone Park, Queens, New York on June 29, 1924, and after her marriage to Joseph "Joe" E. Sharkey II (deceased) eventually moved to Roslyn Heights, Long Island, New York where they lived for 30 years. Upon retirement, Helen and Joe moved to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1983. She died in Columbus, North Carolina very shortly after moving to a Senior Living facility there.
Helen will always be remembered as a remarkably active, bright, and loving person who valued the company of her many friends and family. As a loving mother to her surviving sons Joseph E. Sharkey III, J. Brian Sharkey, and daughter, Christine A. Laurita she will always be remembered as a selfless, caring nurturer who loved them, their spouses and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren with angelic intensity.
In addition to her sons and daughter, Helen is survived by Joseph's wife Susan (Upham) and their son Ryan Sharkey; Brian's son Patrick Sharkey, daughter Ali (Goldwater), her husband Eric, and their daughter Charlotte, and son Parker, and daughter Adria Fulton and her daughters Olivia, and Hannah, and sons Justin and Luke; Christine's husband Ronald and their son Ronald Laurita and his children Jackson, Layton, Riley, son Michael Laurita and his wife Amber (Stoffel) and daughter Kerry-Ann Laurita.
A memorial service will be held at the Palmetto Funeral Home 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, South Carolina on August 29th at 11:30am.
