Ian Robert Alexander Shields

Ian Robert Alexander Shields, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 23 at Wellmore of Tega Cay.

Ian Shields grew up in Toronto Canada and attended Ontario College of Art where he met Betty Alma Huff of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. They shared a love for art and travel and were married for 67 years. As an Art and Creative Director he worked for top adverting agencies including Young & Rubicam, which lead them to live in New York, London, and Frankfurt. Later they settled in Connecticut where they were members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Darien Dance Club. They eventually retired in Centerville, MA. In 2016, they moved to Tega Cay, SC to be close to family.

Ian Shields will be remembered for many things, but his passion and creativity shows through the many carvings, paintings, and sculptures he created over his lifetime. He is survived by his wife Betty Shields, daughter Fawnne Esbitt, son Grant Shields, and daughter Nikki Smith.

On Friday, January 26, a graveside service will be held at 1PM at Philadelphia United Methodist Church located at 1691 Highway 160 in Fort Mill, SC followed by a service and reception at Palmetto Funeral Home located at 2049 Carolina Place Drive.
