Irene Hayes

Mrs. Laura Irene Smith Hayes, 93, of Summerville, SC passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010. The Widow of Robert Andrew Hayes Mrs. Hayes was born on March 26, 1917 a daughter of the late Lesslie L. and Lela Carroll Smith. She was a retired office manager for Dr. Frank Gaston, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Surviving are two daughters Lela Hayes Bouknight (Frank) and Laura Hayes Felder both of Summerville, SC; two grandchildren Emily Felder King (Mark) of Columbia, SC and Laura Bouknight Smith (Mike) of Summerville, SC; one great-grandchild Jacob Thomas Smith of Summerville, SC; two honorary grandchildren Robert E. Ferguson, Jr. (Kathrine) and Sarah Catherine Ferguson; and many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hayes will be held Monday, December 6, 2010 at 2:00pm in Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery with the Reverends Guy Hudson Smith, William Calvin Hayes, and Laura Smith Conrad officiating. Memorials in honor of Mrs. Hayes may be made to the Employee's Fund c/o The Village at Summerville, 201 W. 9th Street, Unit 140, Summerville SC 29483.
