Jack Allen Green Iii

February 2, 1955 — August 24, 2019

Jack Allen Green, III, of Clover, South Carolina, was healed and crossed over into the arms of our Lord at 7:14pm on Saturday, August, 24th. He fought a heroic 2 year battle with cancer in his spine, and passed away while surrounded by his wife and kids.

"Captain Jack", (as he was known by his grandkids, family, and friends) enjoyed his career in the car business, and spending time with his family and friends. His favorite place to be was on the water in a boat with his family or grilling on the front porch of the family mountain house. He also loved aviation and earned his Private Pilots license many years ago - he cherished flying with his kids in their Piper.

Captain Jack was a hardworking family man, a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He never met a stranger and would invite most anyone over to the house to "throw a hamburger on the grill" - much to his wife's dismay!

He leaves a legacy of love, family, friendship, sacrifice, patience, kindness, hope, courage, and strength.
He was preceded in death by his cousin, Rick (Ricky) Reddick, and childhood friend, Floyd Bryant.
Captain Jack is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Sally Green of Clover, SC; daughter, Mary Nell Kane and husband Thomas Kane; sons, Jack Green IV and Christopher Green and wife, Sara Green; grandchildren, Olivia, Eliza, and Harris; parents, Jack and Shirley Green; and siblings, Walt Green and Carol Green.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 30 at First ARP Church in Gastonia, NC.

There will be a luncheon reception immediately following the service at Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. Captain Jack loved a good party! So if you plan to attend the service, please also join us at the reception.

For all donations of flowers, Captain Jack was very specific that he wanted colorful flowers (like his life!) and not just white ones. Should you choose to send flowers, please have them sent directly to the church prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the two causes that were closest to Captain Jack's heart.

The first charity is Mercy Flight Southeast. Because of Captain Jack's love of aviation and heart for children, this charity is especially near and dear to him because it provides private plane transportation to someone in need of life saving medical care. https://www.mercyflightse.org/donate-now/

The second is the Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research. Please find more information at https://www.paulatakacsfoundation.org/donate/

Captain Jack's family would like to send a special heartfelt thanks to his medical team who provided extra years of comfort and time to explore with his family. Some of these amazing people are: Dr. Baldassarre, Dr. Livingston, Jordan, Kendall, Aletha, Dr. Pat, Glenna, Providence Hospice, Kellie, and Ms. Robbie - your kindness, determination and resilience throughout Captain Jack's journey have meant the world to us.

Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and Cremation Center (803.329.4141) is assisting the family.
