Mr. Jack Michael Hughes, 51, of Tega Cay, South Carolina, died Friday March 19th, following an illness.
He was born February 4, 1959 to the late Woodrow and Martha Hughes in Knob Noster, Missouri.
The youngest of 5 children, Mr. Hughes is survived by his brothers and sisters: Donnetta (Jerry) Ryan, Jonathan (Jori) Hughes, James (Teresa) Hughes, Sally (Dale) DeThomas.
Mr. Hughes was a 1977 graduate of Wayne High School in Ohio. After high school, he entered the US Navy and served 8 years of active duty.
Mr. Hughes believed in the importance of education. He was an instructor at San Diego Community College, ECPI College of Technology, and currently, he was the Dean of ITT Technical Institute (North Campus) in Charlotte. He also enjoyed pursuing education for himself. He had an Associates Degree in Engineering, a Bachelors in Physics and also in Computer Science. In addition, he achieved his Masters in Computer Science and Engineering in 2006.
Mr. Hughes married his beloved wife, Deanne, in 1987. They have lived in South Carolina for 7 years. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Jenifer (Josh) Pierce, Jonathan Hughes, Jessine Hughes, and James Hughes. Their favorite memories together as a family were numerous trips to the golf course, especially coaching others in the game. Theyve spent countless hours laughing at silly movies, quoting The Office, playing pool and grilling, and watching Bengals football games.
Mr. Hughes would want others to remember his love for his family, his amazing golf swing and his quick wit. As a beloved brother, a loving husband, a devoted father, and an encouraging co-worker. Mr. Hughes impacted all who knew him. He would want to wish his loved ones Love, Luck, and Long Life!
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 24th at 1:30-2:50pm at the Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC. The funeral service begins at 3:00 pm at the Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, 700 Heckle Blvd. Rock Hill, SC.
The family will be setting up a memorial scholarship fund, in honor of Mr. Hughes love of education. Friends may donate to the fund in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at the Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC. Their compassion and tenderness to the family during this difficult time will never be forgotten.
