Jacob Harris Clawson, Jr., 89, of McConnells passed away at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Mr. Clawson, a son of Jacob Harris Clawson, Sr. and Gweneth Bratton Clawson was born on December 23, 1924 in the Richburg Community. He served in the US Navy in WWII as one of the first Navy Seals and was a member of Seal Team 17. He retired from Bowater as an electrician and enjoyed working on his farm and machinery. He was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. Mr. Clawson is survived by his wife of 36 years, Martha Fudge Clawson; 2 sons, Robert H. (Buddy) Clawson (Regina) and John B. Clawson (Bennie) of McConnells; 2 daughters, Mary Alice Clawson (Todd Blair) of Bowman, SC and Karen C. Ransom (Randy) of McConnells; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer C. Williams (Kenny), John Robert Clawson, Hailey Ransom and Matthew Ransom; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kathryne Anne and Kaitlyn Williams, and special family friend, Andrew Bratton of McConnells, SC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Hailey Clawson; 1 sister, Jean C. Agee; and 1 brother, Charles L. Clawson, both of Richburg, SC. The family is thankful for his faithful caregivers Laverne Green of Chester and Shaneia Powell of Rock Hill. Funeral services will be held 2pm Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Olivet Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at 3:30pm at Union Cemetery in Richburg, SC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, November 7, 2014 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC.
