James Andrew Crowell, Jr.

Mr. James Andrew (Jimmy) Crowell, Jr., 76, of 1562 Cobblestone Court, Fort Mill, SC 29708, died at 5:20 pm, Monday, January 19, 2015, at home. Funeral Service is 2:00 PM Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Antioch Baptist Church, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with the Rev. Joey Query officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8PM Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708 and other times at the residence. Mr. Crowell will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Born April 8, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late James Andrew Crowell, Sr. and Agnes Greene Crowell, Mr. Crowell was a retired employee of General Tire Co. and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He graduated from New Salem High School in 1956. Mr. Crowell is survived by his wife, Minerva Dinu Crowell of Fort Mill, SC and two sons, Jimmy Donald Crowell of Monroe, NC and Justin Neal Crowell and his fiance, Kara Smith, of Fort Mill, SC; two daughters, Tammy Crowell Austin and her husband Garry of Monroe, NC, and Sarah Briana Crowell of Fort Mill, SC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher Austin and his wife, Sarah, Jason Austin, Travis Austin and his wife, Leah, Jami Crowell, Brittani Garris , Shelli Crowell and James Willis Crowell, 9 great-grandchildren and one sister, JoAnne Crowell Baucom and her husband, Morris, of Monroe, NC. Jimmy had a sweet, gentle spirit and was a very giving and caring person who was loved by all who knew him. A special thank you to Lia Allen, his Hospice nurse for her compassionate care.
