James Walter Dixon, 86, of 2579 S. Anderson Road, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Carolina's Specialty Hospital in Charlotte. A native of Columbia, SC, Mr. Dixon was born March 19, 1924 a son of the late Arthur and Maude Dixon. He was a retired rural mail carrier and member of Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church. Mr. Dixon was a WWII Army veteran having served in the Pacific and was a Purple Heart Recipient. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Lois Rauch and Juanita Knotts.Surviving are his wife of 64 years Mary Mooneyham Dixon; five daughters Pat Dixon of Raleigh, NC, Cindy Dixon of Catawba, Jennie Matthews and husband Darrell of Rock Hill, Sandra Starnes and husband Jim of Rock Hill, Melinda Sinclair and husband Tommy of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one sister Louise Henderson of Lexington, S C ; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Dixon will be held At 11:00am Tuesday at Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church cemetery with Reverend Heiko Burklin and Reverend Jan Senneker officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Neely's Creek A.R.P. Church, 974 Neely's Creek Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or the Lesslie Fire Department, 3191 Lesslie Highway, Rock Hill, SC 29730
