James T. Ellis, 74, of 1127 Manor Close Drive, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Magnolia Manor. A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Ellis was born November 15, 1937 son of the late James and Selena Barnes Ellis. Mr. Ellis was the lead singer for The Trammps, he also worked as a Technician for Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School Class of 1958. He was a member of Central Church of God in Charlotte. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Channie Mitchell. Surviving are his wife Beverly T. Ellis; a son James Thomas Ellis, III and his wife Teressa of Philadelphia, PA; a daughter Erika Stinson and her husband Reggie of Rock Hill; three brothers John and his wife Robbie and George Robert Ellis both of Rock Hill and Charles Ellis of Charlotte; one sister Alice Perry of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; and a very special Jay Lindquist and his family. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ellis will be held Friday March 16, 2011 at 11:00am at Central Church of God in Charlotte. The family is at the home of his brother, John, 1641 Mulberry Circle, Rock Hill.
