James Sheridan Foster

Dr. James S. Foster, 79, of Tega Cay, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Wellmore of Tega Cay, South Carolina. Born in Huntington, WV, on October 14, 1937, to the son of the late Ruth and Edward D. Foster.

Dr. Foster graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of '57 at Huntington East High School. He attended college at Marshall University and graduated Ohio State University, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Metallurgical Engineering, a Master of Science Degree and a Ph.D Degree in Philosophy. He was an extremely intelligent man who taught at several universities and defended 100's through scientifically proving court cases. He cherished his family and his work. Dr. Foster enjoyed adventure, traveling, photography, watching football and joking around. His humor, love and devotion shined from within, charity being a major quality he taught us.

Jim was loved by his wife, Phyllis, son Christopher and daughter-in-law Nancy, daughter Jennifer, their mother, Jane (Foster) Hernandez, brother David and sister-in-law Emily. He also loved his grandchildren: Reed and Kevin Foster, Justin and Zackary Parker; step-children: John and Rima Frye, Cristina Frye, Marc and Vicky Frye, and John and Mechelle Hanna; their children: Daniel and Nicholas Frye, Jacob and Skylar Frye, Royce and Gracie Hanna, and a host of extended family and friends.

As a true man of faith, his celebration of life will be held at Good Shepherd Church - Zoar Campus, 13611 Zoar Road, Charlotte, NC, 28278, on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. with the Reverend Talbot Davis and Reverend Chris Thayer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
