James Oscar Hammond, Jr.

Mr. James Oscar Hammond, Jr. age 81 passed away Sunday August 29, 2010 in Rock Hill. Born in Fort Mill, SC in July 28, 1929 a son of the late James Oscar Hammond, Sr and Adele Wright Hammond. Mr. Hammond was a retired truck driver from R&L Freight in Charlotte, member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill and Navy veteran having served in Korean Conflict and avid animal lover.

Survivors include his wife Dolores Hammond of Fort Mill; two daughters Adele Evans and husband Henry and Gail Knapp and husband Dave both of Fort Mill; one brother David Hammond and wife Faye of Fort Mill; five grandchildren Ryan Stegall, Bridjett Vettorel, Jay Stegall, Jonathan Knapp, and Jason Knapp and six great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of life Memorial Service will be held Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 7 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Rock Hill with Rev. Rammy Lybrand officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
