James Robert Hartsell

James Robert Hartsell (82) died on July 21, 2018, at home. He was born on November 19, 1935, in Rock Hill, SC. He married Connie Burton Ryan in August 1960, in Queens, New York. They were blessed with a son, James Robert Hartsell, Jr. Jim worked with several different insurance companies until 1970 when he purchased a dry cleaners with a friend. He retired in 1987, and then returned to work at Adesa for a few years, retiring completely in 2000. Jim was proud of graduating from Rock Hill High School and especially being on the football team of the Bearcats' perfect 1953 season. He attended Texas Tech University while in the Air Force and thereafter attended the University of South Carolina from 1959 until 1962. Jim was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins until his death. He was preceded in death by his mother, Corrine Stringer Hartsell in 2004, his father, James Clifford Hartsell in 2005, and his brother, Jerry Leon Hartsell in 2013. He is survived by his wife, Connie Hartsell, his son, James Robert Hartsell, Jr., and his daughter-in-law, Shelli Hartsell. A memorial service will be privately held. Friends who wish to respect Jim's memory are invited to visit his home on his and Connie's 58th wedding anniversary, Monday, August 20, 2018, between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
