James "Chicken Bird" Ronald Herring Sr.

James Ronald "Chicken Bird" Herring, Sr., 73, of 1680 S. New Hope Rd. passed away Monday January 24, 2011 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Chester Co. born September 17, 1937 the son of the late Carlos Bernie and Lottie Estelle Stroud Herring. He served in the US Army from 1956-1958 as a sharp shooter during which time he was stationed in Germany for 2 years, and received his high school diploma. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Carlos Gerald Herring and Vernie Odell Herring. Surviving are his son James Ronald Herring Jr. of Dallas, NC: sister Marcine Gladden of Rock Hill and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Lee officiating.
