James Vernon Hopkins, Jr., 92, of Rock Hill, SC passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home. Born in Comer, GA, Mr. Hopkins was the son of the late James and Clyde Lou Hopkins. He was a loving husband and father. He served in the United States Army during WWII, and also served as a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, AL. For 33 years, he served as Executive Vice President of Fruit of the Loom. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC. He is survived by his wife, Anne Hopkins; 3 sons, James Vernon Hopkins, III, Charles Michael Hopkins (Sue E.), and Gregory Dean Hopkins (Amy); a brother Joe Hopkins; a sister, Carlene Rogers; 6 grandchildren, Anne, Carol, Jacob, Matthew, James (Jaime), and Joshua Hopkins; a great-grandchild, Riley Hopkins. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hopkins will be held 10:30am Saturday, May 25, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. John E. Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, May 24, 2013 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Capital Building Fund, 234 East Main St. Rock Hill, SC 29730.
