Fort Mill, SC Mr. James Edgar Merritt 85 of Fort Mill passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his home in Fort Mill, SC. Born in York County, SC Mr. Merritt was a son of the late Clarence and MaeBelle Merritt. The family will receive friends 7-9pm Tuesday, February 24th, 2015 at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 at Lesslie Church of God, 2357 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC with Pastor Roy Vogan officiating. He will lie in state from 1:00pm-2:00pm before the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, SC. Mr. Merritt is preceded in death by his wife; Vernie Goins Merritt, He is survived by one son; Danny Merritt of Fort Mill, SC, two daughters; Rebecca Evans of Rock Hill and Margaret Ghent of Lancaster, SC, eleven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
