James Mitchell, 77, husband of Linda Mitchell, passed away peacefully in his home after a long, bravely fought battle with cancer. He leaves his wife, Linda, his son, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) and his daughter, Laura, a granddaughter, Carly Mitchell, and sister, Diane Yeary. His sister, Hazel Horner, predeceased him.
Born June 19, 1940, Jim was the son of James and Eunice Chapman Mitchell. He was raised in Spartanburg, SC on his grandfather's farm.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, Jim was employed by Consolidated Edison of New York at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant. He retired after 37 years of service.
Jim and Linda resided in Cold Spring, NY for 41 years where they raised their family before retiring to Sun City in Indian Land, SC.
Jim filled his days with many interests. Among them gardening, golf, square dancing, playing pool, fishing and trying out new recipes to cook. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh.
He will be remembered for many things...his Sunday morning breakfasts, his ability to fix or repair anything, his friendships, his love of travel, but, most of all, it will be for his boundless love for his family...That will be his legacy.
