James 'Gordy' O'Bryant, 82, passed away to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. He was born in Mt. Joy, OH on February 15, 1932 to Isham Cain and Viola Mae Swogger O'Bryant. After graduation from high school he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War on a transport ship. After discharge he resided in Cincinnati. He worked with Cincinnati Gas and Electric while attending technical communications school. After earning his technical communications certification, he was hired by Western Union and retired in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty; their three children, Nedra (Tom) Jurewicz of Fort Mill, SC, Jim of Tipp City, OH and Bob (Naida) of Lancaster, CA. Their six grandchildren, Tiffany, Jeremy, Evee of California, Peter, Tina and Katie of South Carolina and three great-grand children, Jeremy Jr and Ariana of California and Mariah of South Carolina. He is also survived by his sisters, Millie, Anna Lois (Toby) Janice and Jeanne and one brother Arlyn (Dink) and numerous nieces and nephews from coast to coast. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Lawrence, Norman, George, Herbert and Carlos and sisters, Grace, Lottie, and Maxine. Graveside services are at Mustard Hill Cemetery in Rarden, OH on Monday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m.
