James T. Oates, Jr.

Mr. James T. Oates, Jr., age 59 of Rock Hill, SC, died on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home. Jimi was the son of the late James T. Oates, Sr. and Martha R. Oates of Rock Hill, SC. He graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended classes at York Tech. He also studied music at Boyd Hunt Enterprises in Minneapolis, MN. Most of his professional life involved his music and traveling the east coast. He also served as a docent at Carolina's Aviation Museum in Charlotte and had been chosen docent of the year. Jimi is survived by his mother, Martha R. Oates; sister, Patricia N. Lovelace; brother-in-law, Michael H. Lovelace and niece, Lindsey M. Newsom. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 321 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC with Rev. Debra Quilling Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church.
