James Ray Price

Rock Hill - Mr. James Ray Price, 63, of 1286 Springwood Lane, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at his home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016, at Whitesell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park - Cherry Road. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the funeral home.

A native of Chester, SC, Mr. Price was a son of the late William James Price and Gaynell Hern. Ray Price (Daddy, Paw-Paw, Uncle Ray) - few men have a harder exterior and softer interior - he was a rough iron worker on the outside and a loving, caring man on the inside. He was a man that did things his way, to include how he showed affection to those that he loved. Ray's response to the often-heard salutation of ‘I love you' was ‘yeah...whatever!'. Those close to Ray understood that this was the ultimate sign of love and respect from this gentle giant. Outside of spending time with family, Ray enjoyed listening to Elvis and watching the Washington Redskins - he was also a die-hard NASCAR fan that seldom missed a televised race. Ray leaves behind many family members that have taken on some form or fashion of his name - imitation...the greatest form of flattery. This loving patriarch will be greatly missed for the unbelievable man that he is and was.

Surviving are his wife, Teresa Moffitt Price; two sons, Jason Hepler and Gary James Price; a daughter, Retired Master Sergeant Cindy Price Gardner and her husband, Retired Senior Master Sergeant David Scott Gardner; a brother, Billy Gene Price; a sister, Patricia Ann Ledford; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Guy Price.
