James E. Riemann, 84, died March 1st, 2021 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. He was born August 2nd, 1936 in Sioux Falls, SD, the son of Clarence Arthur Riemann and Elsie Riemann (Grewe).
Jim graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls and attended the University of South Dakota on a music scholarship, graduating with a BS in Accounting. Jim married Nila Jean Stadheim after graduation on June 8th, 1958 and settled in Rapid City, SD. Jim was hired by IBM and relocated to St Paul, MN in 1960. Jim’s career with IBM serving the banking industry included relocating to Edina, MN – Stamford, CT – Rochester, MN – Edina, MN – Princeton, NJ – Charlotte, NC – Bangkok, Thailand – culminating in Charlotte, NC prior to retiring in 1990. Jim was a co-Founder of Carolina Crossing Marina on Lake Wylie.
Jim & Nila were members of River Hills Community Church, where Jim served as the chairman of the congregation.
Jim & Nila celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 8th, 2020 after moving to Well-More of Tega Cay. Surviving in addition to Nila are his sister Joanne Ogard and her husband Roger, of Yuma, AZ, his brother Rich and his wife Vicki, of Minneapolis, MN – his sons, Ron and his wife Ann, of Princeton, NJ, Tom and his wife Lillie, of Tega Cay, SC, Dave and his wife Jennifer, of Savannah, GA, and daughter Jill Stephens and her husband William, of Walterboro, SC. Jim & Nila’s grandchildren include Ron and Ann’s son Jeff, and daughter Carly, Tom and Lillie’s sons Matthew & Benjamin, and Jill’s daughters Angelina & Faith.
A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined due to Covid travel and gathering restrictions. Jim will be interred at River Hills/Lake Wylie Cemetery Columbarium Niches. Those wishing to remember Jim in a special way may make gifts in his memory to a charity of their choosing.
