James T. Sprouse, Sr.

March 7, 1944 — September 29, 2011

Mr. James T. Sprouse Sr., 67, died Thursday, September 29th at Piedmont Medical Center. Born March 7, 1944 and a native of Lowrys, SC, Mr. Sprouse was the son of the late Lottie J. Railey and Robert M. Railey, and the late F.E. Sprouse. He was the retired owner of Sprouse & Associates Insurance, Sprouse Farms and Sprouse Development Corporation. He was a 1967 graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Sprouse served as past President of the Independent Insurance Agents and the Rock Hill Optimist Club. He was very active in coaching youth sports; enjoyed golf and watching his grandchildren participate in various events. Mr. Sprouse is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jean Bennett Sprouse and four children, Jimmy and his wife Suzanne, Joe and his wife Amelia, Jeff and his wife Lauri, and Jill and her husband Jason; and was known as "Paw Paw" to 6 grandchildren, Savana, Joshua, Anderson, Ryley, Ella, and Blake; a brother Bobby Railey and four sisters. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:30pm Sunday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Monday at 3:00pm at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
