Tega Cay SC. Jim Studebaker 88, was reunited with his loving wife Ruthie who joined their Lord earlier this year. Ruthie passed away January 16 and he followed her December 15, 2011. Memorial services celebrating his life are to be held at Tega Cay Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 17. Jim's ashes will be buried in a mountain meadow near Evergreen Colorado alongside his second son David and wife Ruthie. Born in St. Paul Minnesota, he soon moved to his home of Colorado at a young age. Jim was the son of the late Marion M, and Jessie L Studebaker, was youngest brother to Merton, Marion, Kirk, Madelyn and Zona. After returning from active duty in the Army Air Corp at the end of WWII, Jim met his wife Ruth Marie Rapalje at the University of Colorado, and lived much of his life in Evergreen Colorado, where he and his family were involved in starting the Evergreen fellowship in their mountain home. Jim was a loving husband of 63 years, father of three, a current deacon of Tega Cay Baptist Church, and an accomplished mechanical engineer: having received the Man of the Year Award from the Hydraulic Institute (Pump Engineering) in 1981. A golfer, bridge player, and member of various Tega Cay clubs and organizations, Jim's kindness, enthusiasm, and saturation with Jesus left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Jim is survived by his two sons Mark Studebaker of Idaho Springs CO, and Bob Studebaker and granddaughter Shelby Studebaker of Charleston SC. The family will receive friends after the service and encourage any donations to be made en lieu of flowers to Tega Cay Baptist Church 1875 Gold Hill Road 29708.
