James Allen Townsend

James "Jim" Allen Townsend, age 79, transitioned to heaven Monday, April 29, 2019.

Born in Hickory, NC, he was the son of the late James Calvin and Violet Smith Townsend and was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Euliss Townsend.

Jim graduated from Hildebran High School in 1958 and was an entrepreneur and business owner until his retirement.

Survivors include his daughters, Penny Townsend Onley and husband, Robert Onley, III of Rock Hill and Leslie Carol Townsend of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Tiffany Onley Lee and husband, Steven. J. Lee of Rock Hill and Jake Onley and wife, Amanda of Rock Hill; and great-grandchildren, Samuel James Lee, Benjamin Andrew Lee and David Robert Lee.

His Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from Palmetto Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marcia Davis. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim's memory to "The Global Hope Project" (a Christian Haitian Orphanage), 2091 Durand Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715 (via Givelify or Paypal).
