Jamie Lee Allison Magras

June 8, 1998 — April 28, 2017

Rock Hill- Miss. Jamie Lee Allison Magras, 18, died Friday, April 28, 2017.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Whitesell Funeral Home.

A native of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Miss. Magras was the daughter of Leslie P. and Robert Maietta and Gregory and Tonia Magras. Jamie had so many great qualities. She was brilliant and showed it in areas where she found interest. She was very passionate about learning Chinese and Arabic. She had a deep respect and eagerness to learn about other cultures and geography. She loved to listen to many different styles of music from cultures throughout the world. Exotic places intrigued her and road trips were her best times of relaxation. Jamie often talked about traveling to see other places and cultures.

Jamie was a very talented make-up artist and loved fashion and cosmetology. She was a trend setter with make-up and fashion. Jamie was always willing to braid the hair of her sisters and she especially liked to color hair. She had thoughts of becoming a foreign correspondent journalist or a make-up artist. She was yet undecided, as she didn’t yet need to set a path in life at the young age of 18.

Jamie had a very kind heart and was very caring. She was very witty and had a unique way of expressing her humor. And she had a beautiful infectious laugh that made others laugh with her. We knew when Jamie was very passionate about something because she would express it with her hand gestures.

Jamie was a member of the Jr ROTC last year and considered a career with the armed services. She was talented with her hands. She was able to remove and install a new kitchen faucet by herself without any prior training. She loved learning about the outdoors and survival skills. She was adventurous and never afraid. Jamie would pick up bugs, snakes and spiders without any hesitation. She had made lassos out of grass to catch lizards when she was a child in St. Thomas.

In her younger years, she was very interested in art and really enjoyed a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts of Boston. She also had a beautiful voice and sang while walking around the house. She loved to write with strong articulation, expressing her passion on paper. From childhood until now, she loved the Little Mermaid and added that touch in her prom outfit and hair style. She really enjoyed her time at the Senior Prom and talked about it for days. Although she was a great cook with her mix of spices, her favorite go to food was always a Steak Quesadilla from Taco Bell drive though.

Overall Jamie would seek out and become fully dedicated to the areas of life that interested her and in that space she found peace and happiness. We are truly blessed to have had our sweet, precious Jamie in our lives and find our peace in knowing that she is in God’s arms now.

Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers, Javier A. Magras, and Khyal Brown; four sisters, Jessica Maietta, Jodie Maietta, Joslyn Maietta, and Ashleigh Collins; her grandmother, Joanne Conklin and her husband, Carl; great-aunt, Linda Moolenaar; aunt, Jennifer Quetel; uncle, Curtis Petersen; and great uncle and aunt, Henry and Anna Danet. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lionel and Maria Magras; and her maternal grandfather, Clement Cade Petersen.
