Jane Eileen Straub, Oliver, Tanner, 80, passed away peacefully in her home on July 29, 2022 of heart failure. Born on July 14, 1942 in Denver, CO., to Bill and Eileen L. Straub. Jane is survived by her two children, son; Ross Emmett Oliver of Sunnyvale, CA. and daughter; Rhonda Jane Oliver of Indian Land, SC. And Sister: Billie Straub.
Jane lived in Indian Land, SC for 19 years, where she retired after 35 years as an Accountant and Real Estate Agent. Jane had an adventurous spirit which took her to California, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. She also had a love for travel. During her retirement she continued working as a Property Manager.
Jane was descripted as a “Tornado Swirl” and the best “Ambassador” to Indian Land, SC. by many friends and residences. She was appointed to the Pleasant Valley Fire Commission in 2009 to help build the new Pleasant Valley Fire Station. She put the word “Action” in Indian Land Action Council by taking over for Brian Vaughn and had informative and educational meetings about the County and State. She was President of Indian Land Action Council for 6+ years. She even started Indian Land Voice to inform the community and push for incorporating Indian Land. She was a volunteer for the Guardian Ad Litem Program representing children in court. She wrote a small column about Indian Land community concerns for the Gateway News. Her arts & crafts, and handmade cotton face masks continue to be sold online through her daughter’s Studio website. Jane was fun loving, caring, interesting and understanding. She was interested in everyone. Her smile and sunshine outlook will be sadly missed by her family, friends and community.
In lieu of flowers, we asked that you donate to Samaritan’s Purse. Thank you!
