Jane Oneta Via

Rock Hill, SC – Ms. Jane Oneta Via, 78, died Saturday, September 30, 2023, at her home.

The family will receive friends 3:00 pm Saturday, October 7, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Newport Ward, 1130 East Alexander Love Highway, York SC 29745. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm.

A native of Falls Church, VA, Ms. Via was a daughter of the late Lester Claiborne Via Sr and Mary Louise Graham Harrison.  Our mom loved nature, especially trees, birds, and flowers. She even had a rock garden, where she very thoughtfully collected and placed rocks gathered during family outings. She loved crafts. Rolling paper beads was her favorite thing to do over the last several years. She would use them to make jewelry for her loved ones and even sold a few. She was a fabulous artist. She used her talents to make unique paintings on glass and helped to earn extra money for the family by painting holiday windows for department stores. She was very creative and an entrepreneur. When Jeanette and Carolyn were little, she created a business called Rent a Smile. This was referenced on the Donnie and Marie show and was one of her favorite accomplishments. When we lived in Arvada, she started a company called The Mailing Place, which is still there today. Mom was very funny and fun loving. She loved to play games, especially cards. She loved music. A favorite memory is her cranking up the radio and singing and dancing to her favorites which included John Denver, Neil Diamond and Air Supply. She took advantage of every resource to connect with family. She loved family history and was a family history missionary for many years. She loved her family with all of her heart. The family would like to especially thank her daughter Becky and their family for the care and comfort they provided in their home for the past 2.5 years. Mom‘s presence, love and laughter will be greatly missed. She loved the gospel and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is very fitting to say “Til we meet again” our dear mother. You are very loved and will be extremely missed.

Surviving are her six children, Jeanette Trammell (Dallas), Kristy Oblad (Paul), Becky Johansen (Joseph), Larry Daugherty (Prairie), Heather Woffinden (Chris), and Sarah Sargent (Andrew); one brother, Bill Via (Sharon); one sister, Martie Carroll; 24 grandchildren; 6 great-children. She is preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Harrison; a daughter, Carolyn “CJ” Bailey; a brother, Lester Via and his wife Millie Via; a brother-in-law, Joseph Carroll.
