Janet Kent

Janet Strickland Kent, 57, of Rock Hill, SC passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Born August 18, 1956 in Plattsburg, NY, she relocated with her mother as a child to Perry, FL where she graduated from Taylor County High School. She attended and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Marketing. She was a lifelong lover of many things: good music, good food, and a good laugh, but most of all, the Florida State Seminoles. Jan was a devoted wife and mother. She taught her daughters many things, but most significantly she taught them the importance of laughter and the power of unconditional love. She was also an incredibly devoted daughter. Those who know her well remember the many years she spent caring for her mother prior to her passing. Jan was preceded in death by her mother, Georgianna Strickland, and her stepfather, Earl Strickland. Jan is survived by her husband, Michael W. Kent, and her daughters, Kristina M. Kent of New Orleans, LA, and Sara K. Kent of Rock Hill, SC. A service to celebrate the life of Jan Kent will be held 11am Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in the chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The NET Charter High School, 1614 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70113.
