Janet Marie Rzonca

July 18, 1967 — June 4, 2024

Charlotte, NC

Janet Marie Rzonca, 56, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Chanhassen, MN, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family.  Janet was born on July 18th, 1967 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, daughter of William and Frances Lacek.

Outgoing, with an infectious smile, Janet attracted people everywhere she went, with her silly disposition and wonderful sense of humor.  She was deeply committed to her family, and outrageously proud of her children.  With a love of sports, she was competitive, whether playing badminton in the driveway, dominating at putt-putt golf, or simple little competitions constantly ongoing around the house that would inevitably end in laughter. Our beloved dog Cody followed her everywhere she went, never letting her out of his sight, and snuggling with him was one of her most cherished moments of peace.  Her love of pigs was often the butt of many jokes, as she frequently would be seen wrapped in a pig blanket, wearing a pig hat, or holding tightly to her childhood stuffed animal ‘Oinker’.   She shared a love of bonfires with our son Egan, and the two of them would often be caught throwing miscellaneous things into the fire to see what would happen.  Janet was passionate about gymnastics and football, and both could be considered a second religion in our house.  Janet never lost a sense of her heritage, engraining in her husband and children a passion for great Polish food, culture, family tradition, and polka music.  We loved our traditional Polish holiday dinners of fresh polish sausage, pierogies, golabke, and homemade cherry vodka. A vast appreciation for anything outdoors, she loved our time at the cabin.  Coffee in the morning on the swing overlooking the lake, music at the dock during the day while floating on the water, and a margarita at dusk listening to 80’s music.  We are forever grateful for those beautiful moments. During her last months, she was an absolute warrior, focused on the fight, her faith, and her family. She did not complain, she just fought harder, learned to laugh more, and embraced the care of her family.

She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her survivors; her husband Gary of 33 years, her daughter Sydney, and her son Egan and his wife Catalina, all of Charlotte, NC.   Her father and mother, William and Fran Lacek of Hoschton, GA.  Her sister, Susan Eigenbauer, and husband Mark, of Hoschton, GA.  Her brother Bill, of Elmhurst, Illinois.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the Oncology, Radiology, and Hospice nurses, physicians, and staff, and all of our friends and neighbors who selflessly gave of themselves to support us with love, meals, and anything we needed on her journey.  Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life service will be held by the family.

We will remember her as a unique and exceptional soul, a beacon of light who loved deeply, selflessly gave of herself, and left us as better versions of ourselves.  We believe she was called home because her purpose was fulfilled early, but then again, Janet always was an overachiever. We love you Janet, and will miss you dearly.
