Jean Frances McDonald, 86, of Rock Hill, SC left this earth and entered heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 31, 2014. Jean was born on Christmas Day 1927 in Glendale, California to Frances Goudy and Estella Goudy. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in education. During college she participated in basketball, softball and track. Upon graduation she was employed in the art department of an advertising agency in Los Angeles. She soon met the love of her life, and her husband of 51 years, Glae McDonald. After marrying they moved to Ramona, California in 1953 to begin their careers in education. Jean worked as an art teacher, civics teacher and guidance counselor at Ramona High School for over 30 years. She loved her students as her own. In addition to counseling Jean led pep rallies, directed the senior play, organized graduations, and advised student government and the yearbook. Jean was a devoted member of Grace Community Church in Ramona, CA. She sang in her husband's choir and led Sunday school and Young Life. Her strong faith and devotion to Christ were evident to all who knew her. Jean and Glae's home on the hill in Ramona, CA was a local institution, where Jean presided, as the consummate hostess, over innumerable church and civic events. Jean was extremely artistically gifted; specifically using her gifts to help her church and community through stain glass design, pottery, painting, cake and floral design as well as graphic and architectural design. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Glae McDonald, her brother Dale Goudy, her sister Gladys Beer, and her twin sister Jeannette Hiskey. She is also preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Wendy McDonald Watts. Jean is survived by her eldest son, Glae L McDonald, and wife Toni of Tega Cay, SC, and their children Cori McDonald (Ramona, CA), Timothy McDonald, Rebekah McDonald Garner, and Matthew McDonald. Jean also enjoyed two great grandchildren, Alexis Watts (Murietta, CA)and Maverick Garner. She is also survived by her son Tay G McDonald and his wife Cindy of Tega Cay, SC, and their children Andrew McDonald, Abigail McDonald, and Jacob McDonald. A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Community Church in Ramona, CA at a later date.
