Jean B Nelms

Jean B. Nelms, 82, a resident of Fort Mill, SC, passed away Nov 3rd, 2024, at Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC, due to complications from an ongoing illness. Jean was born on July 21st, 1942, in Tarboro, NC, to the late Claude and Mae Beach. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James L. Nelms, Jr. Jean was a dedicated wife, mother, sibling, and friend. She cared for family members for five decades, all while working full time and caring for her immediate family and home. Jean was a faithful member of Faith (Newport News, VA) and Christ Ridge (Fort Mill, SC) Presbyterian churches for over 45 years. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Danny and Melissa Nelms of Fort Mill, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Lee Fetter; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Julie Nelms of Charlotte, NC; brother Buddy of Newport News, VA; five grandchildren Morgan, Jack, Cody, Kaylee, and Emmy, and one great-grandchild Josephine.

On Nov 9th, an 11AM celebration of life ceremony will be held at Christ Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill, SC. Visitation will be Nov 14th from 5:30-7PM at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News, VA. The funeral ceremony will be Nov 15 at 2PM at Peninsula Funeral Home, followed by a brief graveside service at Peninsula Memorial Park at 3PM
