Jeanne Davis Engle

Jeanne Davis Engle of Fort Mill, SC passed away on April 5, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 13, 1939 in Allentown, PA. Jeanne was the wife of Kenneth W. Engle and they celebrated 51 years of marriage on June 3rd. She was the daughter of Carrie and Richard Davis of Allentown, PA. Surviving are sons Kenneth (Dana) of Waldorf, MD and Jonathan (Kathy) of Clover, SC; four loving grandchildren; Alyssa, Alex, Anthony, and Austin of Waldorf, MD; and sisters Dorothy Yakita of Charlotte, NC, Marie Davis of Fort Mill, SC and Cynthia LaBarre of Hollywood, CA. She graduated Allentown High School and attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She taught school in Washington, DC. She was a military wife and mother, giving her the opportunity to travel and live in many places. Because of her travels, she had many church homes that were special: United Parish of Bowie, Bowie, MD, Harmony Presbyterian Church, Fort Collins, CO, Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church, Saratoga Springs, NY, and Unity Presbyterian Church, Fort Mill, SC. She often served as a Sunday school Teacher and Deacon. Among those organizations close to her heart were: Cub Scouts of America, Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities, Colorado State University Scholarship Program. She moved to Baxter Village in Fort Mill, SC in 1999. She found a loving church home in Unity Presbyterian and wonderful friends through York County Newcomers, New Southern Women and the Baxter community. She loved traveling, reading, playing golf, crafting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was so proud of her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00 Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Unity Presbyterian Church with Rev.'s Jennie Bickett and Dan Holloway officiating followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
