Rock Hill - Jimmy Wayne Pittman, 59, of 1858 Ebinport Road died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1:00 pm Friday at Fort Mill Church of God with Pastor Debbie Dyches officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.
A native of York County, Mr. Pittman was a son of the late Willie and Rosa Mae Pittman. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the Fort Mill American Legion, a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Rock Hill, and a member of the Shriners. He was a member of Fort Mill Church of God. He spent most of his life as a truck driver but later in life he retired as a detention officer at YCDC the Moss Justice Center. Mr. Pittman will be remembered as a man who was willing to help anyone in need and loved to give great big bear hugs.
Surviving are five brothers, Homer Jacob, Jr., Jerry Pittman, Tommy Lee Pittman, David Michael Pittman, and Mark Jeffery Pittman; two sisters, Billie Ann Vogel and Shirley Pittman Moss; and his caregiver and niece, April Ayers; one honorary son, Doug Morgan; one honorary daughter, Katrina Acree. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Christine Pittman.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at Fort Mill Church of God and other times at 1856 Ebinport Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732..
