Joan Elizabeth Burton

Joan Elizabeth Burton, 78, of Tega Cay, passed away on May 2, 2021 at home.  She was born in Washington, DC, and had lived in Tega Cay for the past 15 years having moved from Northern Virginia after retirement.  She graduated from Wake Field High School in 1961 and married soon after.  She worked 34 years for the Defense Logistics Agency at Fort Belvoir and Cameron Station, Virginia.  Part time, she sold jewelry at various Virgina stores where she was known as a shrewd salesperson.  Joan was known for her love of fashion and lavish home decorating.

Joan leaves behind her husband of 58 years, David “Mick” Burton; children, Michael Burton, David Burton (Theresa), and Dawn “Shelly” Burton; brother Ronnie Allen (Lisa).  She also leaves her beloved dog Willie Wonka.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to National Breast Cancer Foundation through their website, or a charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29708.
