Joan Vines Thomas

Joan Vines Thomas, 81, of York, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 22, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 13, 1936 in Beaver Dams, NC, daughter of the late Hattie Mae Vines. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clint H. Thomas, Sr. and her son-in-law, Jack T. King. Joan was very active in the communities she resided giving of her time and talents through mission work and volunteering. She was active in Wilmont Baptist Church, where she was instrumental in the Girls Auxiliary, Bethel Baptist Church in Lake Wylie and the Serenity Club of Rock Hill. She was very well known for writing and sending out cards, for every occasion. Most important to her was her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apples of her eyes. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Clint "Buddy" H. Thomas, Jr.of York; daughter, Karen T. King of Charlotte; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Godwin and husband, Tony, Mandy Coquat and husband, Josh, Clint "Bubba" Thomas, III and wife, Tina; 3 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Godwin, Isiah Moore and Colton Godwin; brother, Ned A. Vines and wife, Sheila of Elk Park, NC; and sister, Linda Hammonds of Charlotte. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 26, 2018 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. At the conclusion of the committal services, the family will receive friends at Bethel Baptist Church.
