Joanne Conrad Koonts

Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Iris Joanne Conrad Koonts, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 26, 2023, at her home.

The family will receive friends 4:00 – 5:15 pm Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Faith Rising Community Church, 434 Museum Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.  A funeral service will follow at 5:30 pm with Thomas Matthews Meadows officiating.

A native of Lexington, NC, Mrs. Koonts was a daughter of the late Wilson Alexander Conrad and Lula Mae Key Conrad.  She was always a lady who was willing to help anyone in need.  She loved to socialize with people of all ages going out to eat, to the American Legion, Music Bingo, dancing, going to hear her daughter sing Karaoke.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, and shopping.  She also loved her special dog, Jackie.  Anyone who knew her understood that she was an outgoing person who did not like to sit still.  She loved watching old black and white movies, John Wayne, and country music with Loretta Lynn.  She loved telling and hearing a good joke.  Family was always important to her and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her two sons, Ken Jackson, Jr and Thomas Matthew “Matt” Meadows (Jennifer); a daughter, Kimberly  Jackson Gaffney; a brother, Jerry Conrad (Hallie); 8 grandchildren, Steven Jackson (Siri), Leigh Ann Jackson Randall (Riley), Alexander Gaffney (Megan), Daniel Gaffney, Isaac Meadows, Johanna Meadows, Nicole Meadows, and Ben Meadows; 6 great-grandchildren, Bradley Gaffney, Chase Evans, Lily Grace Jackson, Riley Jackson, Pierce Jackson, and Colt Jackson; a special cousin who as close as a sister, Gaynell Davis; and a special niece that was like a daughter, Tambra Duncan LaBorde; and many other nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert L. Koonts, Tommy L. Meadows, and Kenneth S. Jackson, Sr.; two sisters, Becky Conrad Helms and Carol Conrad Duncan.
