Joanne Cobb Marshall

Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Joanne Cobb Marshall, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.

A native of Rock Hill, SC Mrs. Marshall was a daughter of the late Sloan Douglas Cobb and Opal Whitesides Cobb.  She met the love of her life in 1959 and was married later that year. During their 65 years of marriage, she was a proud mother of three daughters.  At the age of 17 she went to work for the FBI in Washington, DC.  She enjoyed baking and cooking.  Because of her husband’s love for ham radio, she acquired her novice license which resulted in all of one contact.  She will be remembered as an artist who loved to paint and won 2nd place in a contest in Waynesboro, VA.  Her artistic ability allowed her to win several awards.  She enjoyed doing volunteer work with organizations like the Pink Ladies and The Blood Mobile to name a few.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are the love of her life, Barnes Marshall; three daughters, Catherine Whitten (Scott), Shannon Horn (George), and Joanna Grice (Jim); a brother, Michael Cobb (Denise); 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Whisonant; a brother, Sloan Douglas Cobb, Jr; and a granddaughter, Emily Whitten Hafner.
