Joe Hunter Yarbrough, 88, of Rock Hill, SC went home to be his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his beloved wife, Connie and 3 great-grandchildren Wednesday, July31, 2013. Born in Waxhaw, NC, Mr. Yarbrough was the son of the late Edward and Mattie Yarbrough. He proudly served in U.S. Army during WWII in the Philippines in New Guinea. For many years he worked as a general contractor until he received the call to ministry. Known to many as "Pastor Joe", Mr. Yarbrough was the pastor of St. Paul's Independent Methodist Church. He was a strong witness for Christ. He was also known as the Christmas Tree Man on Mt. Gallant Rd. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Albert and Edsel Yarbrough, and a sister Janie Yarbrough. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Yarbrough (Cindy), 2 daughters, Susan Adkins (Wayne), and Brenda Roof (Larry); a sister, Mattileen Hawfield; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. A graveside service to celebrate the life and ministry of Mr. Yarbrough will be held 11am Friday, August 2, 2013 at Forest Hills Cemetery.
