John Palmer Bortner

John Palmer Bortner, 80, of Tega Cay, SC and formerly of Toledo, OH and Charlotte, NC, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Atrium Health - Main in Charlotte. He was born May 18, 1939 in York, PA, son of the late Palmer C. and Joy McMasters Bortner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sally Ryan.

John lived and worked in Toledo, OH for 30 years prior to relocating to Charlotte, NC. He proudly served his country in the US Army Reserve.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cordelia "Dee" Bortner; step-sons, Matthew Alford and wife, Barbara of Pineville, NC and Jeremy Alford of Atlanta, GA; and grandson, Matt.

Services will be privately held.
