John William Bridges

ROCK HILL - John William Bridges, 72, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Saturday at College Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Carter officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Born in Burlington, N.C., John was a son of the late Forrest and Marcella Marshall Bridges. He retired from Lance after forty years of employment. He enjoyed playing golf and loved working in his shop, fixing lawn mowers and building trailers. John faithfully served his church and loved to help others and he especially loved playing with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra C. Bridges; his son, Ryan Bridges (Elizabeth); his daughter, Melanie Canty (Timothy); his brothers, Charles Bridges (Sue), Kenneth Bridges (Deborah), and Roger Bridges; his sisters, Alice Guy and Susan Harrill (Larry); and his grandchildren, Sadie , Jerry and Jack. He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Bridges.
