John Martin (Marty) Edens

John Martin (Marty) Edens, aged 70, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He is a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Marty was born on February 12, 1954, in Columbia, SC, where he spent his formative years. He relocated to Hilton Head Island, SC where he raised his family, eventually settling down in Rock Hill, SC for the later part of his life. He is the son of the late William Youman Edens, Sr. and Elise Brandenburg Campbell.

Throughout his life, Marty has always been known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others. However, more than anything, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, making memories, sharing stories, and traveling. Marty was a man that everyone around him could count on, and he was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges a person faced.

He is predeceased in death by his brothers William Youmans Edens, Jr. and James Michael Edens.

Marty is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Marie Edens, his two sons John Martin Edens II (Mary Margaret) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Robert Royall Edens (Candice) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, his two daughters Brandi Nicole Osborne (Brian) of Fort Mill, SC, and Kimberly Brooke Hollis (Michael) of Rock Hill, SC, three brothers James Drake Edens II (LuAnn), Jason Manning Edens, and David James Campbell (Beverly), his two sisters Susan Edens Gaston (Frank) and Melissa Elizabeth Edens, and his seven grandchildren; John Martin Edens III, Emerson Gregorie Edens, Robert Bryce and Brylan Elisabeth Osborne, Isabella Avery, Aviana Emery, and Eden Davis Hollis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 1 pm – 3 pm at Temple Baptist Church, 281 Celriver Rd. Rock Hill, SC 29730.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The John M. Edens Memorial Fund at the Bank of York in Rock Hill, SC.
