John William Glover

John W. Glover, age 78, went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 7, 2014. John was born October 4, 1935 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late H. A. and Annie Glover. In high school, John met Judy, and the love between them started. They were married in 1957 and the love never ended. He served as a sergeant in the US Army while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia from August 1956 to August 1959. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina he became involved in and enjoyed many years in the textile business. Through the years he became an avid bowler and after retirement from the textile business, he worked at Strikers Family Bowling Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina and enjoyed all the bowlers, making many lifelong friends and bowling in many leagues, always working to increase his average which at one point was over 200. John is survived by Judy, his wife of 57 years; a daughter Johnna and a son John Jr. (Johnny); his brothers, Lewis (Hazeline) Glover and Doug (Edie) Glover; a sister Emily Glover Walker along with many nieces and nephews. John loved the Lord with all his heart and was very active in his church for many years, teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday school. He also performed in many church plays and served on the church board. A celebration of life will be at 2 pm Saturday August 16, 2014 at North Rock Hill Church at 2562 Mount Gallant Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Visitation and fellowship will be immediately following the service in the church lobby. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmettofh.com.
