John E. Hindman, 71, of Catawba, South Carolina, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 1, 1952, in Lancaster, the son of the late Clyde and Shirley Hindman. He was the youngest of 8 siblings. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn and Judd Hindman, and his sisters, Libby Wright, Joy Broome, and Gloria Clements. Mr. Hindman is survived by his wife, Sue Hindman, of 52 years, his son Brian Hindman (Candi) of Rock Hill, his daughter Jennifer McCurley of Catawba, grandchildren Trey Wood (Miranda), Alyssa McCurley, Briannah Hindman, Amber Knox (Lorenzo), Vexton Knox, sister Hazel Burrows of Columbia, brother Buddy Hindman of Fort Lawn, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a loyal employee at McGirt Trucking, Charlotte, North Carolina, for over 20 years, previously employed at Shaw Industries, Armstrong World, and retired from the Lessie Volunteer Fire Department. John loved fishing, going to the beach during fall, and checking out auctions and flea markets with his wife, Sue.
Grave side service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, June 19th, 2023, at El Bethel United Methodist Church (3462 Catawba River Rd, Fort Lawn, South Carolina, 29714), with Pastor Dan O’Connor. The family will receive friends following the grave side service. His family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at McGirt Trucking for their love and support during this past year. Thank you also to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Atrium Health Pineville, Atrium Liver Care Pineville, Levine’s Cancer Institute of Rock Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations can be sent to El Bethel Church.
