John Farrell (Jake) Miller left this world on July 12th, 2022 at the age of 44. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving immediate and extended family.
Jake was born on April 7, 1978 in Fairview, OH to John and Mary Jo Miller as the youngest of three children.
After moving with his family to Orchard Park, NY when he was 8 years old, his love for the Buffalo Bills was born.
He graduated from Orchard Park High School in 1997, attended Kutztown University for photography, and spent time in Portland, OR before settling in Charleston, SC a few years later. There he started his own successful home repair and remodeling company, spending much of his free time on his boat with his beloved dogs.
After simply being friends in high school, Jake reconnected with Margot Maier in Charleston and before long became a doting husband and father. Within a few years, Jake moved with his young family to Fort Mill, SC to allow Margot’s career to flourish.
From sunup to sundown, Jake’s world revolved around his family. He lovingly performed roles of caretaker, shopper, chef, handyman, chauffeur, coach, cheerleader, and veterinarian. When something needed to be fixed, Jake was there. When someone was in need, Jake was there. When you wanted something done, Jake was there. But most importantly, he was present – with a hand to hold, arms to lift you up, and a shoulder to rest on.
Jake is survived by his parents, John and Mary Jo; wife, Margot; daughter, Annaliese; brother, Tom; sister, Shane Bright; nephews, Quinn Dennie, Mateo Miller, John Courter & Finnegan Marciniak; nieces, Ashlyn and Madison Miller, Grace and Julia Dennie, Ryan Lopez, Emma Miller, Theresa, Jacinta, and Cecilia Courter, Marnie & Olive Kemble; loving in-laws, Dave & Anita Marciniak, Ron Maier and Sheila Pace, and Arlene Kaukus; and loving family members, Joe and Marissa Dennie, Mike and Melissa Courter, Gabrielle Maier, Abigail Maier, Erika Jorge, Connor Pace, Marijke and Dennis Kemble and David and Kristen Marciniak. He also leaves behind his beloved pups Buddy and Charlie and his irritating but much-loved cat, Smudgy. Casey, Cooper, Thomas, Allie and a host of other pets are waiting for him on the other side.
In one final selfless act, Jake provided the gift of life to many others through organ and tissue donation.
A celebration of life will be held at Forest Hill Church (2099 Carolina Place, Fort Mill, SC 29708) on Saturday, July 16 at 3:00 pm. All are welcome to come celebrate. Annaliese is encouraging everyone to wear touches of green, as that was Jake’s favorite color.
In lieu of sending flowers, Margot and Annaliese ask that you make donations to the Go Fund Me site at https://gofund.me/c6596104 in support of the mission of The Lemon Aid Stand, the foundation Annaliese began to support homeless veterans by providing them with blessing backpacks filled with essentials for living on the street.
