John Edward Robertson, Jr.

December 29, 1937 — June 4, 2021

John Robertson of Indian Land, SC passed away peacefully June 4, 2021.  He was born to the late John and Mable McConnell Robertson on December 29, 1937. John was always physically active, focusing on his love of baseball which started at Mooresville HS, continuing through Pfeiffer University and eventually to semi-pro in Canada.  Baseball was later replaced with golf, which he loved playing with his friends.  John’s career as a banker resulted in numerous honors. Throughout his life, he served on various boards and was president of the Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club and Rotary Club where he was named the Paul Harris Fellow.  On retirement, he became Director of Habitat for Humanity. Most important to John was his faith. He lived as an example of love, forgiveness and grace.  He served in numerous positions at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and has been on the frontline for many mission and outreach projects.

John is survived by Gloria, his loving wife of 60 years; daughter Shari Black; grandson Chandler; great granddaughter Bailey; sister Jerri Beveridge; sister-in-law Bunny Saine and 11 nieces and nephews.  John loved his family deeply.
