John Gerald Schulte, 86, devoted father and grandfather, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013. His death follows the passing of his beloved wife of 62 years, June, in December 2012. John was born on November 15, 1926 in South Bend, Indiana to Jack and Eva Schulte. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Barrett. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and graduated from Purdue University in business. He began working for Bauer and Black Corporation in Chicago, IL. He retired as executive vice-president for Colgate-Palmolive in New York City. John and June retired to Charlotte, NC and the Indianapolis, IN. They moved to Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill, SC in 2011. He was an active community member. He is survived by daughter Susan Helms of Baltimore, MD and Sally Schulte Walton of Tega Cay, SC and their families. In addition, he is survived by his niece, Elizabeth Staples of Mishawaka, IN. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and humor. A memorial service will be held 3pm Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Park Pointe Village in the community room. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of John Schulte may be made to Park Pointe Village Samaritan's Fund, 3025 Chesbrough Blvd. Rock Hill, SC 29732.
